Access Australia values travel, as well as education, as an important part of a person's development.

If you are planning to study in Australia, Access Australia are here to assist you with the entire journey, from university application to migration.

Below is a list of steps Access Australia takes you through in your journey to study in Australia.  Please contact Access Australia on info@access-australia.com.au to begin the process.

1./ Choosing to study in Australia.
Australia is one of the best study destinations in the world.  We have written a number of reason why Australia is so highly regarded here.  There is also a great blog post on www.StudyInAustraliaBlog.com.au.  If you need more specific advice for your situation, talk to an Access Australia agent to discuss your specific needs or contact us on info@access-australia.com.au.

2./ Choose a University and Course
Once you have decided to study in Australia, there are many universities to choose from.  Access Australia can place you in most institutions in Australia and are well placed to provide you with the best options for your situation.  There are a few factors to consider though:

  • the cost of studying,
  • the quality of the institution,
  • which city in Australia to live in,
  • job opportunities
  • the course you wish to study, etc

These are all very personal things to think about, and Access Australia will help you all the way.  The good news is that Australia has about 7 universities in the top universities in the world, and has 7 cities in the top 40 best cities for students in the world, so whatever you choose is going to be a safe bet.

3./ Check the entry requirements for your course and visa
Please don’t forget to do this.  Access Australia have needed to help many students who have applied to universities directly and been caught on this.  You could lose time in your application.  Entry requirements usually revolve around:

  • English proficiency
  • Past academic qualifications
  • Work history

However each university course has its own requirements so you should carefully check whether there are any special pre-requisites for your course.

4./ Apply for a course
When you speak to an education agent in Australia, they will advise on the best courses and universities for you and manage your application process.  Be aware that some universities have application fees which can add up if you start applying for numerous universities.  You will also need a number of documents when applying for your course.  The best way to make sure you have everything correct up-front and save time is to use an education agent at Access Australia. Standard documents you should have prepared for application include:

  • Academic transcripts,
  • Proof of english proficiency (e.g. IELTS or similar),
  • Passport,
  • Completed application form(s),
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) and relevant Work Certificates (for some Postgraduate Courses)

5./ Receive your Letter of Offer from the university
Once we have lodged all the necessary paperwork to the university, there are three possible responses you may receive:

A Letter of Regret: which states that you will not receive an offer for a certain reason, e.g. you do not meet the criteria.

A Letter of Offer: Congratulations – you’re in!  You will need to return a signed acceptance letter, pay your upfront fees, your Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), a prove availability of funds.

A Conditional Letter of Offer: A letter of offer, with some additional requirements.  For example, they might be doing an English program to get your language skills up to scratch, or completing your current studies to a required level etc.

Additional documentation which will need to be provided on acceptance includes:

  • Letter of Sponsorship
  • Proof of sufficient funds to support yourself (not all countries)
  • Signed acceptance letter
  • Proof of payment of first semesters tuition fees.

6./ Receive your Certificate of Enrolment (COE)
Once you have sent in your acceptance of the Letter of Offer, you will receive a Certificate of Enrolment. This takes about one week. You then use this document to process your student visa application under Australia’s Streamlined Visa Processing.  Once you have submitted your documents, if they are correct it will take one to two weeks.  Students who have applied through Access Australia can get $150 off their visa processing if you choose to have us handle your visa processing.

7./ Apply for your Australia Student Visa
There are a few steps to this process, you can either apply through Access Australia, another registered migration agent or by yourself.  It is always best to use Access Australia or a registered agent.  When you are looking at things like your visa, you don’t want to make all the mistakes on your own visa.  Australian Migration Agents have done this many times and know all the tricks of the trade. You should look on the study visa section on the Australian Government Immigration Website here.

8./ Plan your arrival in Australia
Access Australia can assist with this. Access Australia can arrange for someone to pick you up at the airport and also arrange your accommodation.

On arrival, Access Australia can also assist with:

  • Enrolling at your institution,
  • Connecting to a local phone network,
  • Acquiring Australian identification so you don’t need to carry your passport around,
  • Setting up bank accounts,
  • Acquiring a drivers licence,
